In business capital is key to the existence of the business. The biggest challenge I hear from those I work with is how cash strapped they are. They ask me JDOGG how can I increase my cash flow and build a solid revenue stream? My answer is find ways to be a giver. Many times they look at me with the perplexed look on their face as to say what do you mean I need money and giving things away isn’t going to help me. It is at that moment where I explain that lack mentality and a scarcity belief system is what put them in the position. I explain that it is now time to shift to an abundance mind-set and become a giver.   In any business the key is to find a way to be a giver while also being of service and value.

In my volunteer experience with The American Cancer Society Relay For Life I have often been told no and I have heard all of the excuses why someone would not donate $1. The reason that they were struggling personally and professionally was due to the limitless beliefs they had of being a taker. A pizza place I stopped into in Boca Raton told me flat-out if I wasn’t buying his pizza he wasn’t interested. This same owner told me a year ago how he needed money and wasn’t giving anything away. As I walked out I thought he was struggling last year and this year he continues to struggle and he probably wonders why he is not reaping the benefits of having a pizza place in a high trafficked area across from the middle school. His thoughts and his attitude are holding him back. He is an example of someone who should shift from being a taker to being a giver. Advertisement Ideas: The Importance Of Another Voice!!!

As I am determined to be of service and value to all those I come in contact with I am always amazed when someone isn’t open and receptive to ideas that can help their business to grow. Many times I find entrepreneurs that are so married to their business that they shut out outside ideas and thus do not grow as much as they could.  Sometimes the entrepreneur is set in his/her ways and thinks they know what is best for the business because they come from a position of fear and ego. The fear is often coming from the fact that they are afraid to take a financial risk or they think they are so big that they know more than the other voice.  The importance of listening to another voice is that voice may have something you didn’t think about. I recently had this happen when I made a suggestion to someone to approach the colleges in the area to find sales people for her project. her answer was I wouldn’t have thought of that. Just because someone may never have owned a business do not disqualify them as they may have been around business for a long time and helped those businesses to maximize their message.  I am often amazed by the lack of creativity shown by entrepreneurs and marketing directors and then I amazed that they wonder why business might be slow.

I walked in to my local Chase Branch to speak to the branch manager about La Bonita Kidz and Teenz(www.labonitakidz.com) and I gave her an idea to do a Dollars and Cents Column to educate the readers about saving and investment programs that are available. Her answer really floored me as she said “I don’t think we have anything like that.” This floored me because I would think a financial institution would have ready to print SEC approved materials so as to build their brand in the local market not only to create brand awareness but a feeling of trust amongst existing customers and potential new customers. She took the information and forwarded it on to the marketing department. Chase should have a strategic local marketing plan as any financial institution should have because what works in Tamarac, FL may not work in Jupiter, FL as the communities are demographically different.  This is why having an outsider that is not emotionally attached to the business is important as the outside person may help to develop programs that are instrumental in retaining existing clients/customers while attracting new customers.

I worked with Coach Shantel Springer on publicity and as a result she received media coverage thus giving her credibility and attracting new clients. She exemplified the idea of listening to another voice. Shantel walks her talk and invests in herself and as a result has been able to create a network of individuals to go to for assistance as she understands that everyone can be helpful in some way. As I sat in The Catalyst Sermon tonight at  listening to Pastor Mike’s Wife, Eberly, speak about Fear and keeping the faith to be a lifter I began to think as business people what are we doing to be a lifter and what measures are we taking to lift our revenue. I then found the first way to be a lifter and lift your revenue. It is to overcome your fear. To do this ask yourself what am I fearful of and how will my faith conquer this false evidence appearing real.

In The Movie Coach Carter the message of overcoming fear is evident and the character is quoting from Marrianne Williamson’s Poem about Fear.

Overcoming Business Fears

The biggest fear I hear from entrepreneurs and the non-profit organizations that I work with is  the fear of not having enough money to build on their mission. To over come this fear one must understand that it is when you give and are of service and value that you get and the supply becomes greater. In your advertising make it a point to show how you are a giver to the community. Many people are caught up in the what ifs and never get beyond the limits where those who go for it and put themselves out there find they lift people up and as a result their revenue is lifted. A great example of this is Janine Hinds who steeped beyond her fear to share and sell her concept of  Focus on Community and Ladders to leaders and today is following her passion and meeting with success. Another fear I hear is not getting clients and thus not having steady cash flow. Many times it is not ours to question where the money will come from but to implement the ideas that Passion + Action + Success and watch clients become attracted to us and help us to grow.  A great example of this is Pastor Mike who overcame his Fears of failure and began Rocketown in Pompano Beach and now serves a population of teenager with a positive message and as a result is succeeding and garnering community support.
